Open Studio - (just for subscribers 💕)
See the newly finished Raft Of The Medusa, with sketches and maquette before it heads to London.
Started in August, my biggest ever painting is finally finished and varnished. It was inspired by "The Raft Of The Medusa" in the Louvre - an incredible record of a scandalous and horrific real event, painted by the French 19th Century Romantic artist Théodore Géricault, with guidance from survivors:
Several people have asked to see it in person, so I'm throwing open my studio doors on Saturday 22nd February from 3-8pm.
Please drop in and stay awhile. I will lay out my brushes, palette, all the planning sketches and the 3D model, so you can see the design stages, and ask any questions about how it was made.
There will be plenty available work if you're in shopping mood, from mini linocuts to large pristine framed pieces retrieved from London shows. Use code SUBMARINE20 for a 20% discount on the day. As per last Open Studio, the browser will be stocked with original sketches, all £25 (usually £40).

I'm delighted to say I've had a portrait accepted through to the 2nd round of judging at the Royal Portrait Society this year, and will also be entering this Raft into an Open Call. So hopefully there'll be an invitation to a London show for you in due course, but it's a bit of a lottery... and you're guaranteed a much closer look if you come on Saturday 22nd!Â
Hope to see you very soon, don't hesitate to forward this on to anyone who might like to know. Enjoy the rest of your week,
Gail xxx
PS My studio is down a flight of stairs with a handrail, and has an adjacent bathroom. There is on-street parking, and plenty local cafés.
