New blog & open studio photos
Artists, collectors, models, friends and family, distinguished visitors all, first timers and trusty steeds from as far afield as Farnham... you rock!
Happy Wednesday,
A hearty thank you to all who filled my open studio with your buzz! It was brilliant to meet up, and a joy to share my workplace and process with you.
Artists, collectors, models, friends and family, distinguished visitors all, first timers and trusty steeds from as far afield as Farnham... you rock!
This photo from the end of the evening is a treasure... two models from my Raft Of The Medusa:
Ray Westwood (dear friend and antithesis of toxic masculinity, ironically cast as 'passed-out patriarch physically and economically constraining young woman')
Clare Creed (the one of The 3 Graces hanging joyfully from the mast, revelling in her liberties as a life model, body builder and pole dance instructor).
Clare (above) and I delivered a talk & tailored life modelling session recently, which is now... drumroll please... a blog post. Appropriately timed for Women's History Month, it's a 10 minute read with quiz, videos and pictures. Whatever your view, it's interesting to see what other readers think, some good comments appearing already, feel free add yours:
The Mayor of Weston's portrait is drying out ready for varnishing. It's been a great challenge to make a natural composition that shows his personality, the office, a glimpse of the town, and the symbolic mace. I look forward to the reveal, and adding him to my portrait gallery.
Some exciting new commissions just starting, get in touch if you would like to discuss a bespoke portrait, landscape, or... know a progressive institution in need of a giant narrative painting!
Thank you for reading, I hope you have a spring in your step as we move blinking into the (very welcome) lighter months.
Gxxx
