Exhibition catalogue: on location in the South West
Showing oil paintings and sketches in Bristol's North Street Gallery Feb-April
Painting directly, outside, is primordial. Sometimes that means picking flies off wet paint, chasing the light, balancing my coffee on a flowerpot. But what is so wonderful is that it all goes into the painting. The time, the place, the sounds, the smells. And all those observations are key ingredients when constructing narrative work back in the studio.
2025 was a busy year, showing with the SWLA, SWA, and Ruth Borchard prize exhibitions. So I’m really happy to return to my roots, and have gathered together my best plein air landscapes, and a selection of original sketches to exhibit in the brilliant local artist-run North Street Gallery.
I would love you to visit, and will be stewarding (sketchbook in hand) in the gallery, so check the timetable on this page if you’d like to catch me in person for a chat.
Here’s the catalogue (early access for you), to be released on social media shortly.
And here’s me working hard:
Happy Sunday,
Gxxx
