South West & North East - invitations for you ❤️
Good morning , I hope you're enjoying the long weekend, the extra hour of daylight and brief respite from rain.
Weston-super-Mare has been neo-cool since Banksy picked it to locate his brilliant Dismaland theme park of 2015. Now the Somerset seaside town can boast its first professional fine art gallery:

Do you love Private Views?! We would love to share the excitement of opening night with you:
There is no on-street parking, but the Tescos superstore carpark is a 5 minute walk away - free for 3 hours if you buy something.

Artists Aga Kubish (Owner, right) and Marta Hutt (Creative Director, left)
It's a great opportunity to see work by one of my favourite artists, the delightful Frank Harwood:

I'll be doing some sort of demo/talk at the gallery the following Saturday 4th May, details to follow, hopefully slipping in a light saber somehow.
Sophie Skelton has assembled a huge archive of interviews with leading contemporary artists on her "Behind The Artist" website. From Francis Bell to Shaun Duke... it reads like a who's who.
Determined to facilitate connections between artists and collectors, up North, Sophie is hosting an exhibition and collectors' event in Scarborough on 18th May.

Sophie is a popular, energetic breath of fresh air - the antithesis of the sometimes exclusive London art scene. I'm delighted to head to Scarborough for the first time, to join about 20 other artists at her event:
After spending decades trying to paint and draw what's in front of me, I offer you an exclusive glimpse of my new line of artistic enquiry. Responding to the legalisation of cannabis in Germany, my foray into abstraction captures the spirit of abandon and contemplation in Poll, a traditional village in the warm Baden-Württemberg region. I'd love to know how you really feel about this first piece in the series:

Air of Poll 2024 - 24x36 cm (oil on canvas)
There's much more exciting news, for another day, thank you for wading through this lot!
Have a great week,
Gxxx
