I'm exhibiting in 2 London shows this November
Thank you for all the support for my TEDx Bristol talk in November. Your encouraging messages give me extra resolve, and I look forwards very much to seeing some familiar faces in the live audience. If there are any tickets left, they can be purchased here.
BDD conference exhibition:
Part of the benefit of the TEDx event is the opportunity to make connections with other speakers. At the suggestion of Dr Nicola Stock (speaking in session 1), I submitted work to this conference exhibition on 4th November:

I am particularly happy that the pieces selected are central to my core practice, featuring uplifting representation of the natural body. This is one of the four that were selected:

Potential Energy - oil on canvas. This is about that moment just before one goes into action, maybe a sprint, or a psychological decision to move forwards. There is a sense of power that is restrained, held in readiness for motion. Mathematically, Potential Energy is the energy that is present in, for example, a ball balanced at the top of a smooth mound, where with the slightest nudge it will start to roll.
Society Of Wildlife Artists
After a nailbiting few weeks, I'm excited to say that all 3 mollusc drawings have been juried into the Society of WildLife Artists 60th annual exhibition 'The Natural Eye'.
See my latest blog post about my application, and this prestigious show, held in The Mall Galleries in November:

The Private View is at The Mall Galleries on Wednesday 1st November between 2 and 8pm. The show is then open to the public Thursday 2 November - Saturday 11th November see opening times and concessions.
If you would be interested in attending the Private View as my guest (subject to availability), please check the informtion in the link above, and then contact me ASAP. I will endeavour to bring as many guests as I'm allowed.
Please keep everything crossed for my other open call applications - still waiting to hear about the ING and ROI, and struggling to suppress my optimism.
Finally, a couple of date reminders for your diary:
Portrait Artist Of The Year - the season starts on 4th October, my heat will be aired on 18th October.
November 25-26th Open Studio - I will invite you to my PV on the evening of 24th. If you love artist studios, this is a great weekend to come to Bristol, as the North Bristol Arts Trail is also on. More information on that another day...!
Have a wonderful week,
Gxxx.
