Open studio invitation, & postcard from Spain
Spain, you were amazing. But I'm not going to lie, it's nice to be able to spread out in the studio, and sleep in my own bed.
Open Studio - last weekend of November
I'd love to thank you personally for your support throughout 2023, and show you some of the work you've watched me produce from afar. Based in the heart of Bristol, my studio is a short walk from the harbourside, the downs, and the Christmas markets in town. Details will follow, but for now please save the date.

Postcard from Spain

Not having gallery representation has advantages: I can paint a romantic portrait one day, then mating molluscs the next, without answering to anyone except client feedback and my own meandering attention. Customers can deal directly with me, saving the time and expense of a go-between. As well as commissions, I always keep a selection of pieces available to buy online, from affordable original sketches to framed oil paintings:
It can be a bit 'feast or famine' though, and entering open calls is part of the rollercoaster.
In a bid for exposure, credibility, and community, artists pay to submit work to be 'juried in' to established exhibitions. This week I entered 3 drawings into the Society Of Wildlife Artists, 4 into the Royal Institute of Oil painters, and 2 into the ING Discerning Eye.
Fingers crossed at least something tickles their fancy, so I can glide round the Mall Galleries, and rub shoulders with legit artistic talent. Here are some close-ups of my submissions, can you guess which ones were for which exhibition?!

Meanwhile, it's the end of the summer, so good luck if you too are assembling school uniforms & re-training the kids to get up before lunchtime!
Gxxx.
