New blog, & Opportunity to feature in a portrait
Happy Thursday, *|IF:FNAME|**|END:IF|*
Do you try and cram in a few minutes of admin while waiting for a coffee? Squeeze in a stack of marking after the working day is supposedly over?
I'm excited to start a new oil painting, about that common experience: trying to fit everything into a busy life.
The central subject is my friend Angela, seen here beavering away at her laptop in a leisure centre cafe:

This is the main reference photo, as you can see there are some empty chairs and space... I'm looking for more figures to go in the background, so as a newsletter subscriber this is to give you a heads-up I'll be looking for more photos of people to include.

Click here to set a reminder or join the livestream tomorrow (Friday) at 8pm
You can just sit back and watch, or join the chat with questions and ideas. See the process of sketching "thumbnails" to help decide composition. Can you help with ideas for the painting title, too?
I would love to include a teacher with a pile of marking (often seen in leisure centre cafes, while kids are in swimming lessons), and hear your other ideas. To find out about being included in the painting, join the livestream tomorrow at 8pm. You won't be onscreen, and there's no obligation to engage unless you want!

Mixed Greens
From spring grass to deepest undergrowth, green is at the heart of rural landscape painting. Four artists share their practical tips for mixing a full range of greens, with examples of their work.
Have a wonderful weekend, don't forget to use the video above to set a reminder for the livestream tomorrow evening, if you are interested in being part of my next portrait
